Deacon LaShaun Benjamin

Elder & Deacon Board Chairman

Deacon LaShaun Benjamin Sr. serves as the Chairman of the Deacon Board. He is a native of Sumter, South Carolina.

Deacon Benjamin is a 20-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. While in the Marine Corps he completed college earning an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration/Law Enforcement. He currently works as a Marine Instructor at Mexico Academy and Central School District in their Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training (MCJROTC) program.

Deacon Benjamin is also a student at Denver Seminary, pursuing a Master of Arts in Leadership.

Deacon Benjamin has been married to his wife, Tasha, for 21 years and they have four amazing children, LaShae, Tiesha, LaShaun Jr., and Naomi.

Sister Bridget Y. McCarthy

Elder

Bridget Y. McCarthy is a Syracuse native and daughter of the late William H. McCarthy and Octavia Johnson McCarthy.

Always an observant and inquisitive type of person, she was naturally drawn to study sciences and graduated from William Smith College in Geneva, NY. She started her 20+ year nursing career in 1998 after graduating from Crouse Hospital School of Nursing and working at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Nursing in 2008 and transitioned to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Office of Employee/Student Health at Upstate in 2009.

Bridget has always been involved in church activities since she was a young child attending her maternal grandfather’s church in Auburn, NY. Her faith and relationship with Christ has grown & developed from her youth to adulthood. Currently, she enjoys serving in various ways, including as a member of the Music Ministry, at The Promise Land Church in East Syracuse, NY, where she has been a member for 20 years.

 In her free time, Bridget enjoys sewing, cooking/baking and being an entrepreneur of her own Paparazzi Accessories business.
